Trick or Treat!
Surprisingly, Halloween went off without any major incidents. The kids all had a great time trick-or-treating. They all wanted to help themselves to handfuls of candy from the neighbors' bowls, so once we got the rules straightened out, all went pretty smoothly. Rebecca wanted to go inside everyone's house too.
Better lock your door, here we are!
Getting ready to go...
We woke up this morning and all we could think about was CANDY!

William the Protector
We went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch today and while playing in the indoor playground, there was a little girl there who was obviously having a bad day. She was the cutest thing with her curly blond hair. She was being particularly aggressive to most of the children and was not wanting anyone to pass by her to get in the tunnel. She hit Rebecca. William came to her defense! I heard him say, "Hey! You leave her alone! That's my new sister!" My heart just melted. (Both the boys have been asking to send Rebecca back to China lately.)

What have we been doing?
We have been home from China for a little over a month. (It seems like longer!) Rebecca is settling in and seems to be doing well on her attachment. She is progressing well with her English. She is really starting to pick up words and phrases! Having four small children has been really challenging, to say the least. The boys were happy with Rebecca for about the first couple of weeks, and now they must think it's O.K. to lay out their aggression on her when they are the least bit annoyed with her. Fighting amongst the three of them is the biggest issue right now.
Rebecca has been to her pediatrician three times, the pediatric cardiologist, and the International Adoption Clinic. We are scheduled to visit a pediatric ophthalmologist and a pediatric ENT this month. We go back to the IAC in December. Her cardiology appointment revealed no surprises. She has a 15 mm ASD (atrial septal defect) which will require repair. It is an elective procedure, so we are thinking that she will have it done in the spring at UAB. She also has an ear infection that won't go away, hence the ENT appointment.
I have also had to take the boys to the pediatrician for check-ups and shots, and Henry had a little accident that required taking him to an urgent care center for some dermabond to his forehead. That's the second time the poor kid has had a head injury!
We have been to Tate Farms, but sorry, no pictures! It's probably for the best that we didn't take any because last year when I paused for 30 seconds to grab the camera, we lost William for 30 minutes!
I haven't yet mentioned Vivian. Well, she is just as cute as ever and is beginning to talk! She is 17 months, so it's about time! We have got her saying, "Roll Tide," although it sounds more like "oh tie!" Too cute! She is such a sweet and easy-going baby. She is a GOOD sleeper and she lights up my morning when I see that smile.
I'm hoping to get a camera this weekend, so I can start posting pictures!

Our latest addition
Getting Started...
O.K., here we go. We didn't do so well with our other website, so what makes me think I will keep this one up? Well, at least it's free! As for the title, "The Road Less Traveled," I have found out why. It is full of potholes and bumps, but it does have the best scenery along the way. This blog will be full of the happenings of the Woodalls, if there is anybody out there that is interested.
